Confirmed: Daft Punk to Launch Random Access Memories at Agricultural Show in Wee Waa, Australia

Normally, the Annual Wee Waa Show in rural Wee Waa, New South Wales, Australia, wouldn't be a fixture on anyone's festival guide much outside of the area itself. But this year, as well as hosting dog high jump, cross cut saw contests, and a baby show, the Wee Waa show will host something...completely different. Daft Punk have chosen the agricultural event as the site of the official global launch party for their new album, Random Access Memories.

The record is out May 21 through Columbia Records, but will be unveiled at the festival on the evening of Friday, May 17. (The festival runs May 17-19.) Wee Waa's local news site reports that the show "will host a playback of the new album to a packed audience" from a purpose-built stage. And we have confirmed that all of this is actually true.

Interessant ist das Grundkonzept des Albums:

Thomas says. Eventually, a new approach emerged: "We wanted to do what we used to do with machines and samplers," he explains, "but with people." Except for a snippet of "an Australian rock record" that opens the final track, "Contact," Daft Punk foreswore samples entirely, and they limited the role of drum machines to just two of the album’s thirteen tracks. The only electronics come in the form of a massive, custom-built modular synthesizer that Daft Punk played live on the album, they told me, and an arsenal of vintage vocoders on which they manually manipulated factors like pitch, vibrato and legato. "There’s this thing today where the recorded human voice is processed to try to feel robotic," Thomas says, referring to the undying AutoTune vogue. "Here, we were trying to make robotic voices sound the most human they’ve ever sounded, in terms of expressivity and emotion."

Auch interessant:

They say there are no current tour plans to promote the album. Their "Alive 2007" world tour, in which they played within a giant steel pyramid covered in screens, was a marvel of pop stagecraft, but Thomas says "we have no current plans" to tour the new record. "We want to focus everything on the act and excitement of listening to the album. We don’t see a tour as an accessory to an album." When they do finally hit the road, he added, it will be with a career-encompassing set list, not one overly focused on the new material.

Fake wohl nur dahingehend, dass der Song aus den bisherigen Snippets (gut) zusammengebastelt wurde.

Um einfach mal jemanden aus den youtube Kommentaren zu zitieren:

You can hear where it's chopped and looped. Also, the intro seems way too rushed, no build up to the song, it's too unlike Daft Punk. Also, the volume goes up and down sometimes on different parts, making it seem that it's chopped together. Not to mention Daft Punk nor Columbia ever said they released a song to the public. ALSO not to mention, on the album it says the song lasts about 6 minutes.

Bin mal gespannt wie das wirkliche Endprodukt aussehen wird
