When asked about the rest of this year’s line-up, Sonisphere festival organizer Stuart Galbraith has said: “We’re still working on several aspects of the bill, especially the UK. We still do have a number of bands to announce in the UK. We may have another announcement next week, failing that we will have a major announcement just after Easter.”
He also spoke about the fierce competition between Sonisphere and Download, saying: “I think we’ll bring a fresh approach. We’re not aiming to mimic what happens at Download. We’re more on the basis of booking fewer bands but of higher quality and also to have them play sequentially so that everyone can see every band. Plus, I think that at Knebworth the park land is idealic and instead of the familiar dusty surroundings of a race circuit, we’ll have a rock festival in some fantastic, rolling Hertfordshire countryside.”
“We had a clear idea of what we wanted to try and deliver,” he continued. “We’ve got 90% of what we anticipated but it’s not about what people are doing, it’s about availability and bands touring schedules. I’m happy with what we’ve announced for Sonisphere so far and the rest of the announcements that we’ve got coming up after Easter will finish the bill off quite nicely.”
Sonisphere will be headlined by Metallica and Linkin Park and will take place on August 1st - 2nd at Knebworth. Also on the bill will be Nine Inch Nails, Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Anthrax, Airbourne, Thin Lizzy, Killing Joke and The Sword.
