Großartig! Echt klasse! Sowas kennt man ja sonst nur von RaR/RiP.
3Luddddiund anderen gefällt dasDas Glastonbury veranstaltet in den kommenden Tagen ein virtuelles Festival im ganz großen Stil. Was da geboten wird ist schon ganz großes Kino.
Das reicht von zahlreichen alten Auftritten (über 100 on demand bei BBC, u.a. noch nie komplett gezeigte Auftritte wie von David Bowie), über Dokus, Playlists, Workshops und Vorlesungen bis hin zu verschiedenen Interviews mit Emily Eavis und Gästen (z.B. Chris Martin).
Das komplette Programm gibt es hier auf der Homepage und etwas übersichtlicher inkl. Verlinkungen der Auftritte hier in einem Clashfinder.
Zudem war heute nahe der Pyramid Stage reger Betrieb, irgendwas wird da aufgebaut und die Special Guest Slots im BBC-Programm kündigen Live-Akustik-Sets an. Da wird also auch noch Überraschungen geben.
Ja manchmal hat man in der Situation aktuell auch mal ein bisl Glück. Ging mir beim Darts genauso. Den nun neu angesetzten Termin kann ich, der ursprüngliche wäre nicht gegangen. So kann’s auch mal laufen.

Ich bin mir sogar fast sicher, dass man wirklich vor ein paar Tagen noch gehofft hat. In der Zwischenzeit hat man dann mal gerechnet und kalkuliert (und ganz nebenbei entwickelt sich ja auch das ganze Geschehen rund um Corona rasend schnell) und ist dann zum Schluss gekommen, dass es nicht hinhaut.
beim Glastonbury sollte man immer bedenken, dass es ein unfassbar großes und buntes Festival ist, weshalb die Aufbauarbeiten schon gegen Ende April hätten beginnen müssen. Von daher ist der Zeitdruck hier noch etwas anderes als bei Festivals wie dem Hurricane/Southside, wo im Prinzip ja erst 1-2 Wochen vorher richtig angefangen wird. Aber auch hier ist realistisch betrachtet wohl davon auszugehen, dass es nicht stattfinden wird.
Finde die Absage des Glastonbury auch absolut folgerichtig und sinnvoll - das ganze hätte unter keinem guten Stern gestanden. Für mich persönlich ist das Timing natürlich super, denn eigentlich hätte ich mein Ticket ja in den Resale gegeben, aber so kann ich durch den Transfer auf das nächste Jahr einfach in Ruhe bis April '21 abwarten, ob es im Juni 2021 klappen könnte

Man weiß eigentlich, daß mindestens diesen Sommer so gut wie nichts stattfinden wird, aber es ist halt alles in der Schwebe. Ich hab Tickets, Flüge und Unterkünfte für 3 US-Festivals und ich kann halt bis zum wohl unvermeidbaren KO nur abwarten.

Sollten Taylor Swift etc ihre Tour demnächst absagen, fallen damit weitere Festivals wie Werchter Boutique weg.
Aber absolut verständlich seitens des Glastonburys..

Das befürchte ich auch. Da hängt eben Einiges an Vorleistungen dran, so dass das wirtschaftliche Risiko irgendwann zu groß wird.

Da wäre ich vorsichtig. Es hängt von Vielen ab. Versicherungsverträge, Budget, Größe, Beteiligte.
Das ist nicht automatisch eine Absage, weil „wegen Infektionsrisiko nicht durchführbar“.

Das St. Gallen hat quasi gleichzeitig bestätigt, dass sie zurzeit davon ausgehen, dass es stattfindet.
Juni dürfte aber auf jeden Fall raus sein.

Für mich persönlich super bitter, weil ich dieses Jahr bisher kein Glück beim Ticketkauf hatte und das nun im Oktober nochmal um einiges schwieriger als eh schon wird...
Aber an sich natürlich total verständliche Entscheidung und auch sehr sehr fair gegenüber all denjenigen, die erfolgreich waren!

We are so sorry to announce this, but Glastonbury 2020 will have to be cancelled, and this will be an enforced fallow year for the Festival.
Clearly this was not a course of action we hoped to take for our 50th anniversary event, but following the new government measures announced this week - and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty - this is now our only viable option.
We very much hope that the situation in the UK will have improved enormously by the end of June. But even if it has, we are no longer able to spend the next three months with thousands of crew here on the farm, helping us with the enormous job of building the infrastructure and attractions needed to welcome more than 200,000 people to a temporary city in these fields.
We would like to send our sincere apologies to the 135,000 people who have already paid a deposit for a Glastonbury 2020 ticket. The balance payments on those tickets were due at the beginning of April and we wanted to make a firm decision before then.
We understand that it is not always easy to secure a Glastonbury ticket, which is why we would like to offer all those people the chance to roll their £50 deposit over to next year, and guarantee the opportunity to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2021. Those who would prefer a refund of that £50 will be able to contact See Tickets in the coming days in order to secure that. This option will remain available until September this year. For those who are happy to roll their deposit over, that will happen automatically. Further information - including details on rolling over coach packages, official accommodation bookings and local Sunday tickets - will be added to our website in the coming days.
The cancellation of this year's Festival will no doubt come as a terrible blow to our incredible crew and volunteers who work so hard to make this event happen. There will also inevitably be severe financial implications as a result of this cancellation - not just for us, but also the Festival's charity partners, suppliers, traders, local landowners and our community.
We were so looking forward to welcoming you all for our 50th anniversary with a line-up full of fantastic artists and performers that we were incredibly proud to have booked. Again, we're so sorry that this decision has been made. It was not through choice. But we look forward to welcoming you back to these fields next year and until then, we send our love and support to all of you.

Die Anzeichen bei efestivals verdichten sich, dass das Festival abgesagt wird.
