Ok ;p now that I suckered you in with a German title .. it wouldnt be an Aggie post if it wasnt in English .. so fire up LEO my friends.
Im a Masters student here in america at a school that is obvious if you check my screenname or profile. I study Electrical Engineering, particularly power electronics (inverters, rectifiers, current conditioners etc), motor drives (BLDC, SR, Induction stuff, other PM usw usw) and advanced vehicles systems (applications of drives and electronics to mobile platforms).
I plan to do my master's thesis research and an internship in Germany next year and maybe even longer.. for sure May-Nov 2007, so what Im interested in is where is better?
RWTH Aachen (Dr. De Doncker's group) or
TUM Muenchen (Dr. Schroeder's group)
In both cases I would look to do an internship with the Elektroantrieb section of Siemens, as that is my research area.
So what is a better?
Please consider
1. Cost of living
2. Availability of internship (praktikum positions at Siemens) obviously this favors Muenchen
3. Proximity to fun, RaR, my Ringrocker pals, Southside Festival etc.
4. Quality of the university, in particular their Electrical engineering
Thank you for any help, Id be curious what other students have to say about what I plan to do.
I might also do a second internship then with Liebherr on their large Siemens AC drives for their mining equipment after my internship with Siemens, I am not sure as of yet, however that would then last from Nov 07 to Apr 08. That would put me for sure in Lindau, all the way down on the Bodensee next to Austria and Switzerland, but ca 100km from my girlfriend's hometown
Thank you again
