Glastonbury Festival 2009 (UK)

Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis has revealed that Radiohead, Coldplay and Led Zeppelin are all on her wishlist to play next year's festival.

Talking exclusively to Mirror.co.uk, Emily also revealed that as the photo registration system had worked so well this time round, all 135,000 tickets for next year's event were going on sale next month rather than in April as usual. There's also speculation that Stevie Wonder is being lined up for the 'Sunday afternoon legend' spot at the three-day bash next June.

Emily told us: "Coldplay are a great Glastonbury band, as are Radiohead, but it's really hard to say at the moment for definite who's going to play next year. It would be really good to have an appearance by Led Zeppelin too, that's one band who haven't played here. "That would be quite a one-off. But I don't know whether or not it's going to happen...We're weighing up all the options at the moment and we should have more of an idea by Christmas."


Radiohead, Coldplay und Led Zeppelin wären auf jeden Fall mal richtige Glastonbury-Headliner.
Wobei sich das ja schon so anhört, als geht sie davon aus, dass Led Zep nächstes Jahr touren werden, oder?

The headliners for the next Glastonbury Festival are being finalised earlier than ever and will be confirmed "pretty soon", organisers have told BBC in an online article this morning.

Three months after this year's event, Emily Eavis said they were talking to "a few" stars about headlining in 2009. She declined to name them, but did say: "It's not Coldplay, it's not U2 and it's not the Rolling Stones."

She also said Franz Ferdinand and The Ting Tings would be "somewhere on the bill" after playing a show for locals. "We are completely fired up about next year at the moment," she said.

Ms Eavis, the daughter of festival founder Michael, said she had never known organisers to be talking to headliners so early. "But we have. And because our tickets go on sale on 5 October, we've brought it forward. "So we're ensconced in chat about next year and there's a lot of good feeling after such an amazing festival [this year]." No headliners are booked yet, but Ms Eavis added: "We're talking to a few people at the moment and I think pretty soon we'll have some stuff sorted."

The festival broke new ground by booking US rap star Jay-Z to headline this year - a controversial move, but one that turned out to be a success. Asked whether Glastonbury was looking to do something different again, Ms Eavis replied: "We can't repeat that can we? That was amazing. "Unfortunately you can only do something like that once." Referring to next year's headliners, she added: "We've got a real mixture actually at the moment."

Bookmaker Paddy Power is taking bets on who will headline the Saturday night at Glastonbury 2009. Radiohead are 4/1 favourites, with Coldplay, Oasis and Muse close behind. Franz Ferdinand and The Ting Tings, meanwhile, performed at the Equinox Party at the festival site in Pilton, Somerset, on Friday. Ms Eavis described the show as "a little taster" for next year. "It's good for the village to get things first," she said. "I'm sure we'll expect to see them somewhere on the bill [in 2009]."

Tickets for next year's festival will be available to buy, or reserve for a £50 deposit, from 5 October. The passes will cost £175 and all fans must have registered their details with the festival before they can book their places.

Coldplay dürfte damit dann erstmal außen vor sein, womit ich eher weniger gerechnet hätte. (Heißt natürlich aber nicht, dass ggf. noch mit denen gesprochen wird). Franz Ferdinand und The Ting Tings schon halbwegs sicher dabei. Ist doch schonmal was substanzielles

Hui, das freut mich. Hab ja immer noch die leise Hoffnung, dass Coldplay den Festivals nächstes Jahr gänzlich fern bleiben. Tolle Band, aber auf nem Festival brauch ich die nicht unbedingt. Da würde dann beim Werchter auch Platz für andere bleiben.

Frühestens ende nächsten Monat gibt es die Heads, laut Michael Eavis.

Als die Tochter von Eavis diesen "It´s not Coldplay. It´s not U2 and it´s the rolling Stones"-Satz gebracht hat, sind die mir auch direkt in den Sinn gekommen. Die passen so toll in diese Aufzählung.

Naja, mal abwarten. Zumindest in England haben sie ja mit dem Download auf der letzten Tour ein Festival gespielt.

Oasis spielen dort nicht mehr. Coldplay wie geschrieben laut Veranstalter kein Thema, wobei ich das noch nicht glauben würde.

Festival organisers Michael Eavis has also dropped a hint about who may be playing the Festival in 2009, speaking to Xfm, the farmer is reported (here) as saying, "There's some talk of Kanye West playing The Other Stage, he's sort of Jay-Z's rival, or rather they come from that same stable, don't they? I'd love him to do The Other Stage, but not the Pyramid."

Außerdem sind Blur bei efestivals als Gerücht gelistet. Könnte mir aber vorstellen, dass das noch von der diesjährigen Geschichte herkommt, als Blur ein Headline-Slot angeboten wurde.

Bruce Springsteen und Blur "strong rumors"

Klingt schon ziemlich konkret, damit wären wohl zwei Headliner weg.

Blur dann vielleicht auch ein Kandidat für den Ring oder doch eher Hu/SoSi?

Ich glaube Blur eher Hu/So. Wegen Song 2 eher RaR, aber der eine Song... macht dann vielleicht doch nicht so viel aus. Und beim Hurricane wären die mindestens Blue-Head, wenn nicht sogar Green.

Blur hat schon headliner status hab die höhstens als Support gesehen. Hab nix, wenn Blur kommt, blos niht als head, dass würde ich als Verschwendung erachten ^^

hm naja du hast eher vom southside geredet, ich bin vom Ring ausgegangen, da wir uns zufällig hier im ringrocker sind ^^
