THE CURE TO RELEASE NEW SINGLES THE 13TH OF EACH MONTH LEADING UP TO THE RELEASE OF THEIR 13TH STUDIO ALBUM

BAND GEARS UP FOR US TOUR KICKING OFF MAY 9TH

Santa Monica, California, May 1, 2008- The Cure, one of the most revered British bands of the past quarter-century, have unveiled their plans to release four A & B side singles, one each month starting May 13th, leading up to the release of their thirteenth studio album, as yet untitled, which will be out on Suretone/Geffen Records September 13th. It will be the band's first album of new music since 2004’s self titled album The Cure. Physical and digital singles will be available for purchase in store and on all digital partners.

Why the 13th of each month? The forthcoming album is The Cure’s thirteenth studio album... A lucky number indeed!

First single “The Only One” (released May 13th) includes the b-side “NY Trip”; second single “Freakshow” (released June 13th) includes the b-side "All Kinds Of Stuff"; neither b-side will appear on the album. Both tracks were produced by Robert Smith and Keith Uddin. July 13th and August 13th singles will be announced shortly...

The band is currently gearing up for a U.S. tour, kicking off May 9th at the Patriot Center in Washington DC (see below for complete tour itinerary.) 65daysofstatic will open on all dates.

Led as always by lead singer/guitarist Robert Smith, the Cure line-up comprises longtime members bass player Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper and, back in the band for a third time, guitarist Porl Thompson.

The Cure first formed in southern England in 1976 as Easy Cure. In 1978 the 'Easy' was dropped, and The Cure was signed to the Fiction label. In May 1979 their debut album Three Imaginary Boys was released to great acclaim.

Other landmark Cure albums include Pornography (1982), The Head on the Door (1985), Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (1987), Disintegration (1989), Wish (1992), Wild Mood Swings (1996), the Grammy-nominated Bloodflowers (2000) and their last full length release, the self-titled set The Cure (2004). 2006 saw the Suretone/Geffen release of Festival 2005, an award winning 5.1 DVD featuring 30 songs, shot by fans, band members and professionals during the summer of 2005’s European festival run.

wer weiß, Europa war komplett ausverkauft...leisten könnten sie es sich sicher. Ansonsten wohl hoffentlich sicher beim Pinkpop nächstes Jahr (Smeets will sie seit Jahren). Somit vll. auch am Ring. Ach ne, Lieberberg hat ja keine Eier....sorry. Ich freu mich.

Sind momentan in den USA unterwegs. Und es werden immer mehr Songs in die Live-Stets eingestreut. Jetzt betimmt schon 8 Stück oder so. Hoffe "Sleep when I´m dead" schafft es genauso wie "Baby Rag Dog Book" auf´s Album:

Album ist seit einigen Tage auf den 13. Oktober verschoben...bis jetzt. Nun ist die Frage: Was ist los? Jeden Monat einen Remix von einer Single von ursprünglich vier Singles bis zum Albumrelease.

Egal, verschiebt sich der Release halt. Ich habe sowieso keine Erwartungen mehr. Live gucken sollte man diese Band. Keine kommerziellen Erfolge mehr, weil keine Clips oder Hits (siehe Pearl Jam), aber einen ungemeinen Backkatalog und da sorießen die Hits.
Sowieso schade, dass hier eigentlich nur ich poste. In anderen Foren sieht das ganz anders aus.

Santa Monica, California, September 8, 2008 – An amazing feat! Four Number One singles in the Top 20! That’s what The Cure did this week when all four singles released over the last four months appeared together in the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart! They are: “The Perfect Boy (Mix 13)” at #8, “Sleep When I’m Dead (Mix 13)” at #12, “Freakshow (Mix 13)” at #16 and “The Only One (Mix 13)” at #18.

Coming up next week, an EP of remixes of these first four singles will be released digitally and on CD September 15th/16th.

Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), Pete Wentz & Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Jade Puget (AFI), 30 Seconds To Mars and 65 Days Of Static (who supported The Cure on most of their recent 59 date World Tour), have exclusively remixed the tracks for this special EP, entitled Hypnagogic States. Track listing is as follows:

The Only One” - remixed by 30 Seconds to Mars

“Freakshow” - remixed by Jade E. Puget (AFI)

“Sleep When I’m Dead” - remixed by Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) and Julien-K

“The Perfect Boy” - remixed by Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy)

"Exploding Head Syndrome" (all 4 singles) remixed by 65 Days Of Static

All Artist royalties from the Hypnagogic States EP will benefit The International Red Cross.

Ich muss zwar gestehen, dass mir The Cure nicht viel geben, aber ich immer wieder überrascht bin, wie "groß" die Band immer noch ist und dass sie bei MTV ein komplettes Konzert spielen dürfen. Vielleicht erschließt sich mir ihre Musik irgendwann nochmal. Das neue Album wär eine Chance, evtl. auch erstmal im erkälteten Zustand.

Ein Live-Konzert (kommt übrigens dann zwischen dem 11. und 23. irgendwann in Dejutschland) find ich noch nichtmal sooo überraschend, wenn sie denn ihre Hits runterdudeln dürfen/müssen.
Viel eher verwundert mich, dass sie ein neues Album vor dem Release live preformen dürfen und das auch noch weltweit gezeigt wird. "MTV Icons" haben bestimmt ihre Rechte.

Ne Quatsch, ich find´s gut, weiß aber noch nicht, ob ich es mir anschauen werde.

(April) ein "Dark Album" geben wird und dazu nächstes Jahr 30. Jubiläum von The Cure ist (The Easy Cure zählt nicht ). Das wird ne Party! Zweites Trilogy, ich hör dir tapsen....
